New Main Railway Station in Olsztyn – Dachland as a Project Partner
February 27, 2025, will go down in Olsztyn’s history as the opening day of a modern Main Railway Station – one of the most important and long-awaited infrastructure investments in the region. As part of the Railway Investment Program 2016–2023 and with the support of EU funds from the Eastern Poland Operational Program, the capital of Warmia and Masuria has gained a facility that will transform the quality of rail travel in northern Poland.
This investment would not have been possible without the cooperation of experienced entities, including Dachland, which, as a subcontractor, was responsible for the execution of the prestigious roof. The architectural design by Warsaw-based DWAA Architekci and general contracting by Torpol S.A. combine modernity and functionality, setting new standards in railway infrastructure design.
Modern Design Inspired by Warmia and Masuria
The new station building is an architectural gem on the map of Olsztyn. Its dynamic form and glass facade give it lightness, while the crowning roof, resembling origami or an unfurled sail, is a subtle reference to the lakes and nature of Warmia and Masuria.
Dachland was responsible for the execution of this key element, utilizing its specialization in designing and constructing modern roofing structures. In addition to its unique form, the roof also provides protection, ensuring high resistance to weather conditions and being ready for photovoltaic panel installation – making the building more eco-friendly and energy-efficient.
Roof technical parameters:
• length: approx. 73 m,
• width under the roof: 29 m,
• maximum height: 12 m.
Once again, Dachland has proven that its experience and modern approach to construction technologies enable the realization of even the most demanding projects.
Comfortable and Functional Space for Travelers
The new station in Olsztyn has been designed with comfort and functionality in mind. The building consists of three levels:
• Underground level – includes ticket offices, a passenger zone, and technical facilities.
• Ground floor – a spacious lobby with waiting areas, commercial premises, and space for parents with children.
• First floor – designated for office space.
A key element of the new station is respect for its history – the main hall retains the original mosaic and a commemorative plaque highlighting the building’s past.
Dachland – A Key Player in the Development of Olsztyn’s Infrastructure
The new Main Railway Station in Olsztyn is not the only prestigious project involving Dachland. The company has also contributed to the construction of the Urania Hall, one of the most modern sports and entertainment facilities in Poland, as well as the construction of the Olsztyn tram depot, which enabled the modernization of the city’s public transport.
Moreover, Dachland continues to expand its portfolio as a general contractor, evidenced by the growth of Inicjatywa Budowlana – a company specializing in comprehensive implementation of residential, industrial, and commercial investments. Current projects include Warmiński Port – a luxury estate by Lake Ukiel, Focus Hotel in Olsztyn, and the Yetico styrofoam factory in Gorzów.
An Investment in the Future of the Region
The construction cost of the new station was nearly PLN 71 million, but its value for Olsztyn and Warmia is immeasurable. It is a modern and environmentally friendly facility that raises the standards of travel and supports the long-term infrastructure development strategy in the region.
Dachland is proud to have participated in this prestigious investment and to have contributed to building a modern Warmia and Masuria. This is further proof that our experience, reliability, and high-quality workmanship make us a trusted partner in the realization of major construction projects in Poland.
